qNMR Summit | The Integrative Global qNMR Expert & Discussion Forum

qNMR Summit events are globally accessible expert and discussion forums on quantitative Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (qNMR), an analytical methodology of wide utility in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, and biomedicine that continues to grow steadily.

The goal of qNMR Summits is to convene worldwide stakeholders from academia, government, industry, pharmacopoeias, and regulatory agencies and offer a platform for scientific exchange on the latest qNMR developments, applications, and knowledge in the field of qNMR. qNMR Summits are organized collaboratively since 2016 by teams of volunteers.

Next qNMR Summit 2025 June 4-6 in Halifax (Canada)

The inaugural qNMR Summit took place in Rockville (MD) on October 6+7, 2016. Since then, qNMR Summit events have been hosted worldwide and will be continued to be hosted in various parts of the globe. Flagship events include globally coordinated conferences with participants from all over the world.

9th qNMR Summit 2025 Halifax

The qNMR Summit 2025 (qNMR Summit 9.0) will be held as an in-person event (no virtual component) on Wednesday (1/2 day), Thursday, and Friday, June 4-6, 2025, in Halifax, NS, Canada, in connection and overlapping with the International Symposium on Biological  and Environmental Reference Materials (BERM-16) on June 2-4, 2025.

The qNMR Summit 2025 is hosted by the Metrology Research Centre of the National Research Council (NRC), Canada, and co-organized with support from scientists at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC, Pharmacognosy Institute), and The United States Pharmacopoeia (USP).

The conference will span two half days (Wed+Fri) and one full day (Thu) of an in-person program packed with scientific and networking activities. The initial half day (Wed) will involve cross-cutting topics of the BERM-16 conference.

The qNMR Summit 2025 will involve the following key topics, to which participants contribute oral presentations and posters (see Abstract Submission and Deadlines):

  • High-accuracy qNMR quantitation in establishing Certified Reference Materials (CRMs)
  • Economics of industrial qNMR: (hidden) advantages and (non-obvious) gains for method development, acceptance, in-process testing, manufacture, and quality control
  • Digital qNMR: the path to standardless quantitation; a yellow brick road paved with good intentions?
  • (q)NMR of pharmaceutical salts: simultaneous identity and accurate stoichiometry confirmation in API manufacture, finished product formulation, and stability testing; notable cases, best practices, advantages, and pitfalls
  • (q)NMR in oligo-/polysaccharide analysis: authentication, characterization, quantitation, and quality control
  • Site-specific isotope ratio by (q)NMR in authentication and adulteration analysis of foods and natural products
  • Pharmaceutically relevant heteronuclear qNMR: practically achievable analyses with high-field and benchtop instrumentation
Regulatory qNMR in: experience with regulatory submissions and assessments; views from both sides of the table. What works?
  • qNMR as a driver for environmentally austere analysis
